Sleep

Sleep, the greatest fat burner of all!

When my clients ask me “what’s the best way I can burn fat”, I don’t usually reply with the answer they expect at first. You’d be forgiven for thinking that things such as interval cardio routines, strength training, or even proper nutrition would be the 3 best ways to burn fat. The reality is that sleep, above everything else, is vital in your quest to burn fat. The recommended number of hours of sleep per night is a minimum of 7.

Sleep rejuvenates the mind and body. Without sleep levels of nutrients such as magnesium, zinc and vitamin C drop in our body. With these levels low our body is more susceptible to stress, mood swings, and eating unhealthy foods like sugar. If we don’t recharge the metabolism throughout the night it won’t work as efficiently throughout our day.

Here are 3 tips to help you improve the quality of your sleep

  1. Avoid caffeine after 12pm
  2. Avoid alcohol and sugary foods
  3. Take 500mg 5-HTP before bed for one month (this will regulate your melatonin and serotonin levels)

Remember a proper nutrition plan is vital for you to have the right balance of nutrients, amino acids, and vitamins in your body to promote better sleeping patterns.
